4C (History)

Over the weekend I tried working out some back story for 4C. I haven't spent as much time on it as I would have liked but I wanted to go ahead and get it out here and maybe get some thoughts and ideas flowing.

Please let me know what you think.

4C basically grew up on the streets of Boston with his older brother. Even though he was younger he seemed to always be looking out for his brother.

4C fit easily into the street life and actually made a bit of a name for himself as a lower level thug during his teenage years.

4C was very street smart and naturally knew when to talk and when he needed to be violent.

4C’s brother did well in school and while he was in high school he was awarded a scholarship to a prestigious university. 4C was very proud of his brother and looked up to him for what he had accomplished. After 4C graduated he enrolled in a local community college but never gave up his thug life. He started running a fencing ring to pay for college but ended up dropping out within less than a year. Meanwhile, his brother graduated college with honors and was quickly offered a job. Within a year he was recognized in the company as an up and comer and also met the woman of his dreams. Within a short time they were engaged to be married. 4C’s brother went back to Boston to track him down and ask him to be his best man. When he found 4C he quickly realized how far his little brother had slipped into the life he had left behind. 4C told his brother how proud he was of him for going to college and changing his life. He told him about going to community college and dropping out. Knowing his brother wouldn’t accept charity he offered 4C a loan to go to a university. It took some convincing but 4C finally accepted his brother’s offer and left Boston and his street life behind. While in college 4C discovered he enjoyed the study of advanced energy and had a knack for mathematics. He could do some of the lesser advanced equations like thevenin's theorem and kirchoff's law in his head. After finishing his prerequisites 4C pursued a degree in energy resources engineering and eventually earned his doctorate. While studying for his doctorate 4C discovered Arcanum.

After several years 4C’s brother and his wife decided to open their own engineering consultation company. Their company required them to travel a lot and to show his gratitude for all his brothers help 4C gladly accepted the responsibility of looking after his niece while the two were out of town. 4C would sometimes take his niece to the lab with him and she showed early interest in the inner workings of all things electronic. In his free time 4C would teach his niece basic theory and showed her how to apply it practically.

I like it so far! My only suggestion is that maybe we change violent to aggressive, I'm not sure 4C ever would've been super outwardly violent, but I think he'd be willing to throw a punch if he needed to get a point across. Just my opinion of course.

At that point I'm thinking about 4C in his teens when he's starting to flex his muscle and find his place/make a place for himself.

Aggressive is fine as opposed to violent. Do you think he would of been the one to throw the punch (since he's used to sticking up for his brother) or would he have underlings to do it for him? ("Oh and hashtag. Next time you see that kid break a bone or something") Maybe he started out being the guy to throw the punch but quickly put himself in a position where he had others do it for him. Maybe as a young kid he was a scrapper but as he got later into his teens he learned more creative ways to be aggressive.

I like that! And if he was a fighter as a kid that would give him a reputation he can build on.

My whole idea for 4C's history is to give him the skills he needs to be the guy we see on screen; thug/mob boss and father of Arcanum trying to get the grid up.

4C taking Maya to the lab. What lab would that be exactly??? Sky Medix lab?? I'm not sure if Maya has ever been there. If she had been there before wouldn't she have said something?? She would have known 4C and Mitchell worked together.

Good point. If 4C was that into renewable energy and stuff, I think he probably has his own small lab set up, so maybe when he was babysitting Maya, she came over and they went into his basement lab...or something haha.

Kitch and Maya went to the Sky Medix virology lab. In the wiki under history of Arcanum I established that Arcanum had its own lab which had to be shut down.

I've thought about the possibility of Maya knowing 4C and Mitchell worked together but we already have them on screen working together (and the picture) and Maya didn't know about that either. Maybe 4C just never shared that kind of information with her. His work was important to him not who he was working for.

I would say it's 50/50 in today's world as to a teenager knowing the name of their parents boss and Maya is a niece.

Thanks for keeping an eye out for continuity! If you still feel it's a hole that needs patching I can put some more thought into it.

I think as long as you are specific and say the Arcanum Lab, we should be good to go!!
BTW you're going a great job with all the wikia pages!! Can't wait to see what you come up with for Hashtag.

I'll be sure to specifically say "Arcanum lab" in my final edit of 4C history.

Thanks! I have lots of ideas for Hashtag's wiki page but I've been holding off on posting anything. I was hoping to get more inner circle involvement on his character and maybe get others interested in adding stuff to our wikia.

I think having underlings doing the dirty work fits 4Cs personality and with Hashtag saying "I know you don't like getting your hands dirty ..." That can be both littoral as well as figurative.

I incorporated everyone's ideas into the final edit and added it to 4C's Early Life on his wiki page.
